NOTHING IMMEDIATEPLAY OVERVIEW: An ominous play set in the lobby of a small rundown motel in Iowa. There, Edna, a morally self-righteous woman is tuned on the radio to her gospel hour when Sandra, a "Liberal New Yorker", arrives seeking refuge for the night. She has come to visit her father dying in a local hospital. An unnerving, uncanny clash ensues between the two women, moving to a terrifying confrontation. 2W AWARDS: Samuel French Play Writing Award PLAY HISTORY: New York's Ensemble Studio Theatre OOBA New Play Festival, New York Actors Theatre of Louisville REVIEWS: "...The playwright creates a vivid metaphor for the unrest that lies at the heart of contemporary life...a gripping work, frightening in the way it develops an ethical clash between two vividly created personalities... moves tautly to a terrifying confrontation...[with] a sad realization that no easily diagrammed truce between the Ednas and Sandras of this world is possible. -Louisville Courier Journal, KY "Shirley Lauro's strong one-act [is] realistic, almost slice of life form." -The Wall Street Journal "Sinister...taut climax, an exhibition of female dominance. Ms. Lauro writes very well." -The London Times AWARDS: Samuel French Play Writing Award AVAILABLE FROM: Samuel French, Inc. http:/ 45 West 25th Street - Dept.W New York, NY 10010 Phone (212) 206-8990 Fax (212) 206-1429 Samuel French, Inc. 7623 Sunset Blvd. - Dept.W Hollywood, CA 90046 Phone (323) 876-0570 Fax (323) 876-6822 |
